Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…
A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles. I wanna play!
Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places. 2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.
A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…
An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies. I smell a lawsuit.
Will trade beer for Crumpler bags. Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…
9:30.
That’s when I get to have free time after work. Regardless of whether I leave work at 6, or 7. Get home too early and cook a “real” meal, get home too late and cook a quick meal. Cooking for three is different than cooking for two, there’s *just* enough to go around and rarely do we have any leftovers for lunch now. Me and Mike generally end up eating less less, as I cook pretty much same amount as I did before. This is a good thing. We don’t need to eat as much anymore, but if there’s extras, we tend to over-eat. And under-exercise. You get the idea.
But yes, so cooking, then eating, then washing dishes. And then it’s 9:30. So what can I possibly do at that time? All I want to do in the few hours before bed is to relax and watch tv, or read a book. (I have a lot of books to read. I should add a booklist.) Where do I find the time and energy to do anything else? Sigh, life is becoming way too routine.
Though this week’s been a little bit more interesting than usual. Work’s been feeding me quite a bit. Tuesday’s breakfast, Wednesday’s lunch and dinner, Thursday’s lunch, and now Friday’s dinner.
Our VP hosted a party at his house on Wednesday for teams who met their July/August milestones. There were only three or four teams that didn’t make it, so we thought there’s gonna be a lot of people at the party. He prolly thought so too, and ordered five hundred pieces of sushi and fifty pounds of wings or something like that. Where he ordered that much sushi from is anybody’s guess. However, at most only 30 or 40 people showed up, and so people ended up taking sushi trays home with them. Hence, Mike and Aaron ended up with sushi for lunch on Thursday. And they are still alive, so I assume sitting outside for 8 hours didn’t spoil the seafood much…
The VP’s house is the nicest houses I’ve been in (it’s really too bad I wasn’t allowed to go to BillG’s place). Everything was custom-built, with a huge entertainment area, bar, wine cellar, and infinity pool in the backyard. It must have been about 8 degrees outside at night, but he had the outdoor pool heated to 35 degrees. The basement "utility" room looked like what you would expect from a factory or office building. People make fun of *our* little patch panel, but the boss had an entire server rack. Every room has radiant floors, so there were two giant water boilers to heat the water. He had a land survey poster of his property showing the landscaping plan for all the PLANTS in his yard. (What are "nearly wild roses"??). The living area themselves are not that big, (though we didn’t tour the bedrooms, of course), but the features are very very impressive.
All the houses in his “block” backs onto a man-made pond, which had a walking path going around it. Apparently it costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to maintain it a year, which the neighbours share. Poor Mikey, he didn’t get to go.
The house next door is on sale for $999,000. I’ll link to it, but I don’t want to tell the world my VP’s address.
