Tidbits

  • Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…

  • A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles.  I wanna play!

  • Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places.  2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.

  • A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…

  • An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies.  I smell a lawsuit.

  • Will trade beer for Crumpler bags.  Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…

Oops, I think I just bought a House…

March 30, 2006, 3:51 am

Interesting story indeed, but if all goes smoothly, by April 4th, I’m gonna be heavily in debt. I guess we did rush into it a bit, but with our year lease expiring in June and the house selling period upon us, we figured, why not? Besides, it’s a quaint little house over-shadowed by a giant white marshmellow water tower. But at a cul-de-sac and very close to the conservation area. More photos can be found here.

Basically we had to bump an existing conditional offer and what not, and I’m still shocked at how quickly everything has to be done. 48 hrs for this, 24 hrs for that. We spent like 2 days looking at houses. Some people spent years! Either they are very picky, or they don’t know what they want. I’ve always been a spontaneous buyer. All the added costs and fees and taxes, mortgage, lawyers, are extensive and expensive. But I guess you’ll have to go through with it sometimes. I hope this turns out okay…

LCD-ed at Work

Another nice surprised today is that my team of three got dual LCD monitors. Or rather, one guy got it early in the morning. Then the IT guy came back to switch our team lead’s (who was on vacation today), and found that his tower didn’t support dual monitor, or take DVI input. So I got his. Poor guy, wonder what he’ll say when he walks in tomorrow…
