Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…
A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles. I wanna play!
Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places. 2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.
A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…
An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies. I smell a lawsuit.
Will trade beer for Crumpler bags. Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…
November is a bit of a downer month. There’s really not much you can do in November. The weather’s cold, wet, and gray. No leaves on the ground, but no snow either. Explains why I’ve mostly stayed in Waterloo the past few weekends, bumming around, and doing various things around the house.
I was trying to brainstorm something to do this weekend, and pretty much came up blank. A lot of interesting things involves walking around outside. Too cold to walk around the zoo, too cold to go hiking anywhere. Too cold for biking or rollerblading outside, but It’s not cold enough for outdoor skating rinks to be opened. So nothing to do.
So ended up going rollerskating AND bowling in the same day. I was afraid I got caught in some time warp, but we ended the night at a bubble-tea place, listening to cpop and playing euchre and big two until 2 in the morning, and all is well with the world once more…
Actually there’s only like three rollerskating rinks in the area: one in Oshawa, one in Mississauga, and one in Cambridge, everywhere else closed down. We went to the one in Mississauga, from the decor and colouring inside, I’ll say it’s managed to survived the times without changing one bit. I’ve never rollerskated before, and the rental pairs were *heavy* (and slow). I think they might be easier to learn than rollerblades, as the four wheels create a more stable base for standing. However, I would say that falling on ice would be preferable, because here you don’t get to slide when you fall, it’s more of a sudden, pinching stop. I know because it was family skate when we went, so there were kids everywhere. Perhaps rollerskating disco is not quite dead, as there were a handful of kids there with some nice moves. But then those are probably the ones who’s been going to the place every Saturday for the past 6 years or something.
Some of the other things I found to do: Circus Camp!
My parents had old pairs of roller skates in our basement when I was a kid. They were actually really difficult to keep my balance on. Rollerblading is easier, if you already know how to ice skate…
