Tidbits

  • Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…

  • A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles.  I wanna play!

  • Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places.  2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.

  • A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…

  • An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies.  I smell a lawsuit.

  • Will trade beer for Crumpler bags.  Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…

Niagara Ice Wine Festival 2006

January 17, 2006, 5:04 am

Went with the family last weekend on Sunday. 11 AM to 6 PM. We just got one $25 pass for the five of us, and I’m sure we got our money’s worth.

Visited fourteen in all (new record):

  • Angels Gate Winery: Decent icewine
  • Fielding Estate: Above-average icewine, really sweet Riesling
  • Magnotta: Sucky icewine
  • Crown Benches: Still the best
  • Vineland Estates: Above-average icewine
  • Stoney Ridge: Sucky cheese fondue
  • Cave Springs Cellars: Too crowded, no service, blue cheese samples too strong for the older folks
  • Coyoto’s Run: Average icewine
  • Chateau des Charmes: Average icewine, disappointing
  • Maleta Estate Winery: Average icewine that became above average when paired with their spongecake
  • Riverview Cellers Estates: expensive chocolate fondue fountain, but fun nonetheless
  • Inniskillin Wines: average icewine, ridiculous tasting fees
  • Caroline Cellars: sort of suck of icewine by then
  • Strewn Winery: artic coffee, sort of sour...
