Tidbits

  • Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…

  • A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles.  I wanna play!

  • Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places.  2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.

  • A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…

  • An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies.  I smell a lawsuit.

  • Will trade beer for Crumpler bags.  Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…

My Room Smells like Ikea

December 29, 2006, 7:47 pm

So Christmas didn’t really feel like Christmas to me this year. For one thing, there’s no snow. For another, I had to work the three days this week. At least I’ll be taking next week off, except it’s looking more likely that I will go to work Tuesday, since I will be in Waterloo, and Mike will be working. Sad how while the rest of the world is on vacation, his company have to work like a dog.

Boxing day shopping was a bit of a disappointment this year. I was out the whole day, from 10 am to 8 pm. Went to the Sporting Life and surrounding areas on Yonge, then Downtown to Europe Bound and Eaton Centre. I can’t believe MEC wasn’t even opened! Sporting Life and Sign of the Skier had nothing good, unlike last year. Eaton Centre was packed like crazy, but again, nothing great. Just got a couple of pants and vests. Mike is proud that his total Boxing Day spoils cost him less than a quarter, as all he got were two retractable USB and Firewire cable things for 10 cents at Futureshop.

He did get a fancy professional series file cabinet from Ikea, to complement a set of drawers my parents got from the Midnight Madness sale. Suffice to say, just the handle + front cover of the file cabinet cost more than the entire set of drawers itself. Thus is the wonder of Ikea.

I’m typing this while seated on one of those exercise balls that’s so popular nowadays. People are saying they make great computer chairs because they promote good posture, and you can subtly do exercises while on them. I think I’ll drive my coworkers crazy with my constant bouncing up and down. That, and my keyboard is too high and I’m too lazy to adjust the height of my desk.

Finally, my rice cooker is broken. And thus, the end of the world is upon us. Help.
