Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…
A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles. I wanna play!
Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places. 2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.
A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…
An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies. I smell a lawsuit.
Will trade beer for Crumpler bags. Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…
So we have the next wave of MS branding:
The next version of MSN Hotmail, Windows LiveTM Mail Beta, is being used right now by thousands of people just like you. And the cool thing is it was built from the ground up based on feedback and requests of those using it. Mail Beta is fast and simple just the way you like it. The adjustable reading pane and drag-and-drop functionality help you read and organize your e-mail faster and easier than ever. But we’re not done yet. Take part in the next evolution of FREE Web-based e-mail.
Let’s see, “built from the ground up” looks just like OWA (Outlook Web Access). “Fast and simple” just like Gmail, right? Drag-and-drop != simple. However, it is quite fast, and has pretty good protection against spam and unwanted mail in that you have to click a few times to get the email to load completely, like one click for content, one click for images… And of course, it only works for IE… Though I have to admit that it does look a lot cleaner in FireFox, without all the interactive features.
Requires an invite to log onto the network with the 8.0 client, even if you somehow found the installation file somewhere (and the download button does not work in FireFox). Which is bloody annoying because I used up one invite with my personal account, but then I installed the beta at work, and so can’t log into my work account. I tried to send an invite to myself, clicked the link, got a page error, and then everytime I tried clicking the invite link again, it said I have no more invites left. Grrr! Thanks Jerry for wasting two invites on me, otherwise I would have had to uninstall the beta and installed 7.5 again at work.
And the only new feature I noticed was offline-msg. I bet it only works if the *other* person is using Messenger Live. Yes, I’m very disgruntled about Messenger. I mean, Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger can’t communicate properly. How screwed up is that? At work, I need to IM Mike through Gtalk, cause half the time, I don’t receive the messages he sent from his Windows Messenger to my MSN client. *grumble grumble*
Looks like Google Maps, but 50% slower. I like being able to add push-pins and such dynamically though, now if only I could get direction from one pushpin to the other… Blah, it can’t even find my address.
Oh, and check this, their Virtual Earth. Ack, how can this even be released to the public? It’s as slow as molasses, the navigation sucks, and there’s barely any photos! Though I do find it sort of interesting how there’s nobody on the streets..
