Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…
A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles. I wanna play!
Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places. 2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.
A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…
An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies. I smell a lawsuit.
Will trade beer for Crumpler bags. Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…
So I just came back from a four days, five nights trip to Tremblant. And of course, the only time it rained was when I was there; the weeks before, and apparently the weeks following, are all full of below-zero temperatures and isolated flurries. (And yes, everyone, there was snow. Thanks to modern snow-making technology. Even that couldn’t save Blue Mountain though). Contrast this to last year, when I went to dcevents, they had a major snow storm, but everyone was on strike.
I ended up with 1.5 days of skiing, and two days of shopping. The man-made snow and warm temperatures made it pretty much spring skiing conditions. The first day was acceptable, except the visibility was poor due to the fog. Then it rained for two days. On the last day, we did a half day from 8:30 to noon before we headed back home. The weather finally cooperated and gave us sun and below-0 temperatures. On the other hand, it also gave us icy chunks all over the hill. I was rattling over them so much, I was surprised I was even able to turn on top of those things.
Sigh, I am really missing West Coast skiing now!
At least the rainy days were pretty well spent. The first day we went to the outlet mall at St-Sauveur, where the Tommy factory store had everything for 40% off lowest price. The second day, we went to downtown Montreal, and walked around the Eaton Centre shopping area. Montreal has a lot of major department and fashion stores that I’ve never heard of. Definitely worth going back in the summer to check them in detail.
Winterlicious - is happening once more. I’ve been rather disappointed in the past with the offerings of the really upscale, unaffordable places. I might check out some of the middle-tier places for lunch or dinner. Notable places include: Richlee’s, EDO, Romagna Mia, and the Corner House.
Apple iPhone - was finally made public today. I love the whole multi-touch screen idea. Expensive though, at $499 for the 4 GB one and $599 for the 8 GB. I wonder if we can get them unlocked, or if they will only tie it to a provider. And for Canada, would it be Rogers? To me, too pricey for a phone. I’m not a big mobile phone user. Regular pay-go, 30 cents a minute is just fine for me. I won’t be IMing people, surfing the net, or checking emails on my phone. However, if it has good PDA features like syncing with my iCal, good note taking features, and if it can connect to my home wireless network to surf the web and make voip calls when I’m at home, I will definitely consider it.
