Tidbits

  • Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…

  • A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles.  I wanna play!

  • Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places.  2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.

  • A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…

  • An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies.  I smell a lawsuit.

  • Will trade beer for Crumpler bags.  Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…

Latest Fave Gadget: Mr GPS

September 09, 2006, 2:00 pm

We picked up a Garmin Nuvi 350 from the last Dell Days of Deals sale. It was Mike’s idea. I didn’t even give the product a second glance when I first checked the deal, but after he expressed interest in it, I did some research, and read that it was considered one of the better devices out there. It was a bit on the pricey side though, given that getting the top of the line Axim PDA + GPS receiver would still have cost less. But I like how small it was, so I can just take with me on the go, and not have it glued to the car.

So earlier in the week, Mike said he wanted to go on a GPS-assisted road trip. And did I have a road trip in mind! A 200 km loop through three cities.

  • Morning: Guelph to visit Cass
  • Afternoon: Hamilton to visit Emily
  • Evening: Oakville for co-worker’s “house-warming” party (He moved in last November...)

And all I had to do was save three addresses into the GPS, and off we went. No more printed out Google maps, no more mess! When we reached co-worker’s place, it was so simple to just search for the closest grocery store to pick up something, and not have to worry about any perishables turning bad in the car all day.

Hehe, I’m surprised I didn’t get a GPS sooner!
