Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…
A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles. I wanna play!
Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places. 2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.
A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…
An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies. I smell a lawsuit.
Will trade beer for Crumpler bags. Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…
But first things first: BBQ on Sunday was pretty good. Ended up with eleven people in total, which was good since that’s exactly how many chairs we had that could fit around the patio table. Feeding 11 was actually pretty easy work, as we just served burgers, sausages, chicken drumsticks, and leafy salad from Costco. Even have food leftover, namely half a container of nachos dip, half an apple pie, tub of vanilla ice cream to go with the pie, Doris’ chocolate cake (which I forgot about, oops), and a couple bottles of (malt!?!) Smirnoff Ice from the States that I bet Gordon was dying to pawn off!
I’ll be bringing them to the next party, so be warned!
The weather held up quite nicely, even though the forecast suddenly had it thundershowering by the evening. The camping people went canoeing in the afternoon, and I went biking around with Lairon and Doris. The plan was to try and sneak into Laurel Creek to say hi to the canoeing people, but we ended up biking literally all the way around the entire boundary of the Conservation area instead, looking for alternate entrances, before finally biking into the main entrance. Made some new discoveries though: There’s a steel birdwatching tower off Beaver Creek Rd directly across the street from the Laurel Creek Nature something or other; The rest of the Laurel Creek trail, which is a nicely shaded gravel path running parallel to Bearinger. Really need to take some weekends and explore these pretty bike trails around the city!
And sadly, it seems that a party for Chinese people consist of drinking, playing math games, and mahjong…
Head back to Toronto (again) on Monday to have dinner with parents. And to stop by the Apple Store. I’ve decided that it’s time I upgrade my computer. With Mr Server out of commission for the time being, and my notebook with less than 1 gig of free space left, I find myself not being able to run most programs. I first looked into upgrading the hard drive on my notebook, but it seems like heating will still be an issue. Putting in a 80 gig 5200 rpm drive into little Azule might melt the poor thing. So I decided to go Apple.
I blame Mike. He’s been pining for a Macbook for his birthday all year, until he read that the first generation duo core MacBooks have cooling problems. So he’s content to wait. In the meantime, he’s seeded my temptation. I was gonna get a Mac Mini with a nice 20” LCD, but since that came out to around $1500, he convinced me to get the 20” iMac instead. And with the education promotion they are having now, I also picked up a 30 gig iPod with the photo connector. That’s right folks, I now have a 10 gig 3 gen iPod, a 1 gig shuffle, and a 30 gig 5 gen iPod, and 2k down the hole.
Though the worst part about this is that I’m writing this on my notebook, which got allocated to Michael’s desk, and he’s been at my desk on the iMac all night.. Sigh..
