Tidbits

  • Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…

  • A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles.  I wanna play!

  • Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places.  2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.

  • A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…

  • An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies.  I smell a lawsuit.

  • Will trade beer for Crumpler bags.  Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…

House Chores? Huh?

September 11, 2006, 9:40 pm

Sunday was such a nice day! Sun was out, weather was mild, if a bit nippy when the wind picks up, but otherwise a perfect late summer day. No, not a day to waste at all. I figured I could maybe bike up to St. Jacobs or something, or do something else outdoorsy.

It was not to be. Mike’s parents came up at like 9 am so they can go shopping for a storm door for the townhouse at Home Depot. After a mini-marathon run of “House” the night before, I slept in and woke up at noon. Just in time to help put it up.

Five hours later…

Yeah, that was how long it took to put it up, we knew we were in trouble when the instructions looked like a book. We even had a traditional size door (people with irregular entrances should prepare themselves to hacksaw pieces off their doors), and it still took that long. Something really must be said about Ikea, they’ve spoiled us in easy-to-assemble products. We had to drill our own holes! Through metal! Home Depot people charges like $200 to install the door for you, hmm, it really might be worth that much work, between the three of us and the whole afternoon.

And then afterwards, I weeded. For no good reason other than Mike’s parents brought up this tool a few weeks back, and it looked fun. It’s no longer fun. I eventually realize that now is prolly a bit late to be weeding. Now that we almost have more weed than grass in our yard, and they were mostly dead. I got a blister. :’(

Lest We Forget

Oops, I think I forgot already…
