Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…
A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles. I wanna play!
Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places. 2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.
A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…
An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies. I smell a lawsuit.
Will trade beer for Crumpler bags. Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…
It seems the more PC term these days is Lunar New Years, as calling it Chinese New Years make it seem like an exclusively Chinese holiday. Family tradition states that everyone need to spend New Years Eve together in the superstitious belief that it means everyone will stay together for the rest of the year. Unfortunately, I think a lot of New Year dinners were canceled due to weather. I was one of the few who made the drive back, and it might not have been the wisest decision. I knew there would be some snow, but figured it would be okay since it already snowed earlier. I decided to even leave early, at 4, to give myself plenty of time to make it back by 7. It took me more than 3 hours to get from work to Brampton! 3 HOURS!
I was also stupid enough to chug down a mug of hot tea before I left work. BIG mistake. It took over an hour to get to 401, the ramp from 85 took half an hour by itself. By then, I was beyond uncomfortable and was seriously contemplating pulling over to the side of the road for some relief. I did manage to make it to the Kitchener Costco and used the facilities there, and I have to say I’ve never seen that Costco so deserted before. Then my parents called asking how the weather was, and if I would be able to drive back for dinner. By then, I figured I was committed, having made it all the way to 401. It would have taken over an hour to get back to Waterloo anyways, so might as well go forward.
It was an interesting drive. Pretty much the three hours I was on the road was when the storm was at its heaviest, and a snow-covered 401 is a challenging drive. Fortunately, I did not pass a single accident there, unlike on the way out of Waterloo. I am thankful for snow tires, ABS, ESP, and all the other fancy little three-letter acronyms that Mr B has.
Yay dinner!
Much better than Lairon, who rushed home from Waterloo (career fair) a bit before I left for her family dinner, only to have her parents say it’s canceled when she got home 2.5 hrs later.
I didn’t even tried heading back to Waterloo that night, worked from home in the morning, and drove back to work during lunch. All the major roads were cleared, everything was smooth and regular sailing. I was surprised that there were way more snow in Brampton than in Waterloo. I guess the storm hit the west end of GTA the hardest.
