Tidbits

  • Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…

  • A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles.  I wanna play!

  • Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places.  2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.

  • A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…

  • An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies.  I smell a lawsuit.

  • Will trade beer for Crumpler bags.  Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…

Happy Green Beer Day

March 18, 2006, 2:34 am

My brother’s house was throwing a party, and my mom wanted to know which of his roommates is Irish. Poor mom, she didn’t know that St. Patrick’s Day really have nothing to do with Ireland anymore. No, it’s basically a day to celebrate beer. By drinking lots of it. All day. It’s pretty much Drink Green Beer Day.

Today at work, we had a lunch to celebrate green beer day. The company provided lunch (Campus Pizza, ewwwww) and we have to bring in a dessert or appetizer. I had no time to prepare anything, so we just leeched.

Mike was so looking forward to the green beer, I went for lunch early to grab a glass of green beer to take a photo off, and handed it off to him. Halfway through his glass, he commented that it tastes just like regular beer. We all looked at him funny, and said of course, it’s prolly the honey brown or that Rickard’s Red beer on tap that they dyed green. He was like, “what? It’s dyed green?? But I thought it’s suppose to be *green* beer!”. Poor Mike, he thought that there was some foreign Irish beer that you can get special for St. Patty’s day that’s always green. He didn’t know that green beer is just dyed green with green food colouring. Now he’s all disappointed and disillusion about green beer. St Patrick’s Day will never be the same again.

Oh, and I also won a prize at the lunch. You could vote for the best dessert, best appetizer, or the person dressed in the most green. During lunch, we commented about how nobody’s dressed as a leprechaun, but at least we were wearing green! One of the marketing ladies was sitting at our table and must have heard our comment. I didn’t vote for anything, and I got free movie passes. Yay to being a girl!!
