Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…
A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles. I wanna play!
Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places. 2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.
A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…
An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies. I smell a lawsuit.
Will trade beer for Crumpler bags. Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…
The weather in June was such a mess, raining and storming all the time. The weather network was always wrong, and it was just safe to assume that it will rain. July, on the other hand, has been very nice. Sunny, blue skies, not too hot. Finally able to do summer things. Been having BBQ out on the deck a lot this week, and have been grilling more than just burgers and sausages. Mike’s parents brought up a rack of lamb from T&T which was very nice for bbqing, and also salmon steak. My parents will be up at the end of the month and they want to do lobsters! I’ve never had bbq lobsters before, but my family did while I was in China. I asked them where they got fresh lobsters from in Waterloo (yes, they come up to the townhouse for bbq, we don’t actually own a bbq in Brampton). My mom said she brings them from home after boiling them first, then bbq, saying that it was too inhumane to just stick them live in the bbq and have them scamper around. Honestly, it never occurred to me that bbqing fresh lobsters would mean sticking them into the bbq alive, and that they would move around. Too used to grilling dead pieces of meat, I think.
Also got the bikes out to do some biking. Haven’t been able to bike to work yet because it always threatened to rain, so we would just go home and bike around the neighbourhood. Today we biked from our house to RIM Park, pretty much just going up Northfield. It’s only 7 km away, but it seems further somehow. And we learned that only the south side of Northfield has a sidewalk when you cross 85. Ah, things you don’t notice even though you drive by like once a week. We went around the paved trail going around the golf course again, it really is a nice trail for both biking and rollerblading. Then, of course, we wasted the day’s effort by stopping at McDonald’s on the way home and trying their new Angus burger. It was interesting, the toppings seem more fresh and less processed, and the bun was square. However, the basic one (without bacon and cheese) was fairly bland. Harvey’s is much tastier.
Though unlike the previous summer, I don’t think we will be going on much road trips or camping trips. I think the month in China took care of most of our wanderlust, and I really don’t feel like planning them. Besides, I think all the reminding weekends in July has been booked. I think we might go to Peelee Island some time, prolly in August. Also, I want to check out GO-by-Bike to Ajax, or do some biking tour of the Niagara wine region. That will probably be in Sept though. Now I mostly just want to relax.
So Mike was playing around with Spore Creature Creator, and man, the stuff he makes are SCARY. That guy has no aesthetic sense whatsoever. “But they have so many features!” ... Ha, I should go get some screenshots..
A little splash through the mud never hurt anybody
Hmm, I think the janitors at work might have something to say to that…
