Tidbits

  • Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…

  • A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles.  I wanna play!

  • Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places.  2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.

  • A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…

  • An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies.  I smell a lawsuit.

  • Will trade beer for Crumpler bags.  Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…

Crepes!! …and other Foods…

July 22, 2006, 3:41 am

So we passed by the new extension to Waterloo Town Square today, and noticed that soome of the stores have opened. There are two noteworthy places, this crepe place, and a gourmet pizza place. Hmm, will definitely check them out in the near future, especially the crepes place. The new extension side looks nothing like the rest of the mall though, it’s pretty drastic. Mall: ghetto. New side: hip and trendy. It looks rather Californian to me, especially with the wide walkway, and patio seating, the colourful storefronts… Lots more construction happening in the area, hopefully it’ll rejuvenate the area. Sort of regret not checking out the Bauer Lofts more seriously. But I guess I’m just too noise-sensitive to be suitable for condo-living.. But but.. lofts!

Other foodworthy notes: “The Grill” at University Plaza (on side facing towards the Mel’s plaza) has awesome milkshakes. They make them with any of their ice cream. The green tea one is really good, not too sweet, but so rich… The ”Classic Indian Restaurant” is also pretty good food, despite the cheesy name. Word of caution though, their stuff is HOT! I had their “Better Chicken” (like Butter Chicken, but they don’t use butter) which was rated as 2 stars (out of 4) for hotness, and it was still freakin hot. They even have curry shriimp, which I’ve never tried before… Spend $25, and mention their ad on the kw restaurant site, and get complementary mini-samosa appetizer.

Also, a couple of the higher-end KW restaurants are hosting their own “Summerlicious” event this summer, from now until Sept. Basically they are offering fixed price menus for $30-40. Places include 20 King, King Street Trio, and King Crab. I should email the 20 King people to find out which other local restaurants have this special event.

Hehe, yes, I haven’t been in the mood to cook lately…
