Tidbits

  • Sleepover at Ikea - Maybe this is the only way to get to the $1 early enough…

  • A ramen bath - Japanese spa with special baths resembling instant noodles.  I wanna play!

  • Old age homes for dogs - 1) Old dogs don’t like to be abandoned at strange places.  2) Playing with young puppies will probably cause the older dogs to die faster due to exhaustion.

  • A remote-controlled pigeon - Oh the poor thing…

  • An article on a brilliant method of teaching grade schoolers about bats and rabies.  I smell a lawsuit.

  • Will trade beer for Crumpler bags.  Tempted by the beanbag and messenger bags…

Another Layout Attempt

August 26, 2006, 3:15 am

So I got sick of all the blue and hard boxes, and decided go even simpler. Though I did draw the line at adding the solid box at the bottom for all my links and affiliation started by this whole Web2.0 thing. I have really no idea what Web2.0 really is. I even printed out the O’Reilly article, after I formatted the html all nicely into a PDF, but I haven’t read it. I’m lazy.

Though one wonders how lazy, if I’m willing to do all this tedious work of playing with static html, when loading all the text into a DB and generating the content dynamically would have been way easier. But I haven’t been able to force myself to sit down and study Ruby on Rails, my last burst of effort was installing it on the Mac. Actually, it was much easier to install everything on Windows. I guess certain types of installations and just getting things to work is a weakness off Mac. Sometimes things are actually more dumbed down with Windows.

So yes, new layout. You can compare each layout iteration by going through the archives. One of the perks of static html I guess, every page is self-contained.

And I’ve added the page with a link to all my photo albums. Now that was a painful cut-and-paste job!

Hmm, maybe Mike should go on a month long vacation next time and leave me behind all alone, and then I’ll have everything coded up and done with. Seems like I have to be alone and bored to be constructive… My mom pointed out that this is the first time since 2005 that we’ve been apart (including without IM contact). I don’t know what is scarier, that it’s true, or the fact that she noticed…
